THE FRIENDLY SKIES

We didn’t sleep in past our 3am wake up. It is amazing how quickly we travelled from home to airport without the usual traffic congestion. Parking was easy. Security not so much. We both got nabbed with random body searches. Do we really fit the risk category? Oh well, the coffee and muffins for breakfast at 4:40 were most welcome and the smooth connections in Seattle and Atlanta were without security screening.

As we flew from northwest to south east over this vast continent at 10,000 feet the skies were clear and the winds were calm. A window seat allowed the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of our world.  The land is immense and varied, much of it unpopulated. Over the plains the vista appeared to be a lovely multi-patterned quilt.

It was a good, albeit long travel day. We arrived on time in Miami, greeted by swaying palms, balmy evening temperatures and a tropical rainstorm. There was a little concern when the cabbie appeared to not know of our hotel but he got it together thanks to GPS and drove us without delay. The valet greeted us under the shelter of a large umbrella, checked us in quickly and the evening was completed by sharing gin and tonic with our travel time pals.

Good morning Miami.

Good night Miami.
